The Employee Engagement Network

In an online world now made up of social media tools i.e., blogs, micro-blogs, communities, how are you communicating appropriate guidelines to a global organization?

Well, as a consultant, I don't have to communicate them. But if I were helping a client do that, I would say that the guidelines should not be constructed by someone who is not using the tools. They will do a terrible job because they won't "get it" when it comes to how the tolls can be used productively. Guidelines are needed to make sure the widgets get made, but we need to shift out thinking to be inclusive to these methods as the new e-mail and cell phone.

I like what IBM did http://www.ibm.com/blogs/zz/en/guidelines.html

Any other examples?

My view on this is that where you treat employee engagement like a ‘big bang’ corporate change programme it will always carry a significant risk of turning into an ‘organisational Vietnam’. Don’t go to war in the first place! Do it by taking lots a…
