Any advice? I used to do effective projects but recently it seems that I am personally disengaged. I know it kinda sounds funny but I really cannot manage it. I don't wish to leave the organization as I have already grown close with the people. I know my boss can't help me with this either since the last time I felt this, he just ignored me when I opened up and asked his help.

Hi Gustilo,

Did you ever tried to identify reason why you are feeling disengaged. I suggest you do an introspection and write all the points on a peace of paper. You may get the answer yourself.

I responded on your personal page and missed the exact spot to respond. I hope what I put on your page might be somewhat helpful. I wonder if the relationship with your boss is part of the reason for the disengagement. Being ignored or not feeling you matter can be a real contributor to disengagement.

David is right. your immediate supervisor and the relationship you have with them is the primary driver of your engagement. People leave bosses not companies. If you don't feel as though you can work with this person you need to see if there is another role in the organization, with another manager, which might revive your engagement level.

unfortunately, that is not possible at the moment as we are a very small organization. currently i'm trying to learn other HR tasks to divert my attention and lessen the dissatisfaction. hopefully, this works soon. I do not wish to add to the gloomy atmosphere at work caused by recent lay offs.

Hi,

Engagement is the difference between what we are doing and what we would wish to do.

I wonder what your wishes are?

I hope this helps Iya.

Have a great day now, and thank you for your truth.

Best,

Rob.

Appreciate the question--but what if you consider that there is more than one type of "true" engagement, and that different types of engagement may involve more or less spiritual, intellectual or participatory involvement?
