The Employee Engagement Network

Good morning,

I am looking for a short video clip (2 mins max) to commence a presentation to middle and senior managers on motivation and engagement. I have in the past used the Reebok Terry Tate clip, and the Steve Ballmer (Apple) going beserk clip, but need something fresh that takes a lighter view of engagement. Can anyone point me in the right direction or make any suggestions?

Thanks,

Phil

L like the Monty Python video on disengagement through discussion from the life of Brian.

For full engagement in sport I have used the video from the ball routine in rhythmic gymnastics.

Benjamin Zander on Ted Talks has a great longer video on shining eyes!

You might want to look at: Stairway to heaven stalled.

Thanks for the ideas. I like the stairway - it translates very nicely into how employees expect everything to be done for them rather than taking some ownership.

I also thought the Monty Python sketch worked well, although it inspired me to hunt out the 'What have the Romans done for us?' scene, as that resonated with how quickly people forget past engagement efforts!

Have you tried TED.com? There might be something there you can use.

Do two things: trust your employees unconditionally and give them more responsibility than they would ever expect; they will rise to the occasion and surpass all expectations.

The real challenge to engage employees is to gain trust by giving them autonomy to shape their own jobs to their own wishes, interests and strengths but always aligned with an open and transparant organisational vision and strategy.
