What books are you currently reading that discuss employee engagement?

I am very interested in books on employee engagement or related topics. What are you reading? Do you want to start a discussion on a specific book? Do you have a recommendation?

I'll check it out ASAP.

Have you read Erika Andersen's Growing Great Employees?

Other EEN members recommended it to me and now I recommend it to others.

Best regards,

Bob

I''ve read & reviewed (Amazon) 3 great books that really are home runs on employee engagement:

"The Carrot Principle: How the Best Managers Use Recognition to Engage Their People, Retain Talent & Accelerate Performance" (Adrian Gostick)

"Thank God It's Monday: How to Create a Workplace You & Your Customers Love" (Roxanne Emmerich)

"Instant Turnaround!: Getting People Excited About Coming to Work & Working Hard" (Ross Peck)

These books are highly recommended, and continue where Paul Herr's "Primal Management" (still the best) left off.

Happy reading, Larry

Typo alert: That's Ross Reck, not "Peck", who wrote "Instant Turnaround!"

I just got finished reading & reviewing (Amazon) "Management Rewired: Why Feedback Doesn't Work & Other Surprising Lessons from the Latest Brain Science" (Charles Jacobs). It's an excellent (5 star) book, and not surprisingly, alligns with Paul Herr's "Primal Management". It's critical for organizations to understand the psychology of dealing with employees, and treat them as though they were real live humans, with brains and everything.

Consider Daniel Pink's book, A Whole New Mind. Key to employee engagement is activating both left and right brain - both intellectual and emotional connections. His book revives an important dialog about engaging the "whole" employee. Clever presentation and good food for thought.

Appreciate the question--but what if you consider that there is more than one type of "true" engagement, and that different types of engagement may involve more or less spiritual, intellectual or participatory involvement?
