I know a number of organizations who have bought the popular idea that generations are engaged by different drivers. I agree with the pitfalls that the article raises and especially like the quotes:
“Widely held beliefs about generational differences in the workplace may lead organizations to develop programs that can actually diminish employee engagement,” says Debra Horsfield, Practice Leader, Organization Effectiveness with Watson Wyatt. “Employers should avoid an emphasis on labels and instead focus on commonalities in what motivates employees.”

In the Hospitality industry we have all generations working side by side so really can't use different drivers. So from that standpoint I personally hope the report is right.

We do try to work backwards by working with team leaders and line managers on the "two-way communications" and "confidence" that the report suggests
