The Signs of Being Engaged and Impassioned About Your Work Life

What does having a high level of personal engagement at work look like? Is it perceptible by co-workers, customers, or leadership?During a recent trip to Yosemite National Park, our family stayed in a lodge storied in over 90 years of history and service to visitors to this treasured park. The lodge was perfectly placed in the Yosemite Valley in front of Yosemite Falls. The setting was breathtaking. The hotel’s architecture was beautifully crafted in the early 19th century and stands as…See More

What Are You Passionate About?... at Work #9- Balance

Balance. Just the word alone without thinking too deeply about it raises a significant amount of emotion. For many of us achieving this state is like trying to catch wind in a bottle, finding the Holy Grail or living out a dream. For those few of us that have achieved this equilibrium, it is a constant battle to remain in this work/life state.“For me, Balance means: Meaningful daily achievement combined with enjoyment in each of my four life quadrants: Work, Family, Friends and Self.“~ Jim…See More

Reflections of Labor Day: “Best Places To Work”

God sells us all things at the price of labor. ~Leonardo da VinciLabor Day. For many, this is the unofficial last day of summer, the last hurrah before kids go back to school and a chance to clean out the garage or enjoy an outdoor picnic before the cool autumn winds and shorter daylight hours force us back indoors for that much too extended period known as winter. The first Labor Day was September 5, 1882, the intent of creating this special…See More

Alan,

I have been away on vacation for a few weeks so I offer the belated personal welcome to the network. I trust you will find good information and interesting interactions. Let me know how I can assist you.

I appreciate how involved you have already been and see a very significant role for you in this network. I hope you will help us deepen, enrich, and foster our passion for engagement. I loved the quote at your site:

Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. ~Harold Whitman

Sanibel is a great place to spend a few weeks. We lived in Naples for about 7 years, right on the beach.

We then moved to Sun City Center to take better care of my 101 year old mother. This is a Del Webb retirement community with 4 golf courses about 20 miles from Tampa, just off I-75.

Hope all is well with you.

Ask yourself: Do you work better in the morning and in the evening? Take off every afternoon! Why are you working five days in a row? Can you work alternate days – and rest every other day. If you usually take a fortnight’s holiday (if that!)? Could you take three weeks or a month? Is your optimum output better if you take ten weeks off, instead of four, and work with more energy during the times that you DO work?
