Hey, I am thrilled at your enthusiasm and want to ensure that you get maximum exposure for your contribution. I changed the way the blogs are displayed for today so all your posts don't show up in a row. Spaced contribution with specific connections to others through comments like you just sent to me are very powerful ways to leverage the network.

Jason,
I appreciate your enthusiasm but encourage you to post one blog post at a time. When you saturate the network with so many at a time you may lose your impact.

Jason,
Welcome to the employee engagement network. It is good that you "realize" the importance of employee engagement and I look forward to your participation.

Profile Information

Who are you?
As you know, my name is Jason. I am a husband, father of two (one girl and one boy), and a business owner. I am a speaker, business & life coach, and a resource for employee assessments used for retention, engagement, performance, and leadership development.

My mission: To help businesses get the most out of their people. To help people get the most out of themselves.

Why this business?

In 2001 I had an epiphany and after 23 years of flying by the seat of my pants I put myself on a mission to understand why some people find great success and fulfillment, while others seem to struggle. I began taking classes, reading books, and learning as much as I could about success, leadership, and motivation.

The more I learned the more I realized:

1. Many people are in the same situation I was in: just going with the flow, disconnected from themselves, and unaware of their possibilities.
2. People want to be passionate about what they do.
3. Organizations need people that are passionate and engaged.
4. This stuff fires me up!

This period of discovery was a life changing experience. In addition to learning about success, leadership, and motivation I was learning a great deal about myself and the power of self-awareness and realization. Recognizing this passion, I knew I wanted to spend my life and career helping others gain greater awareness, experience realizations, and achieve their goals.

My Education

I have my BA in Organizational Management & Communication from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Currently I am completing my Master of Science in Adult Learning and Organizational Performance with emphasis in Leadership and Training & Development from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

My Experience

I’ve spent a number of years in sales and marketing in various industries working with both consumer and business clients understanding their needs and providing the best solutions for their situations.

As a business coach with E-Myth Iowa I coached my clients through a year long business development program called Mastery Impact. I helped them adopt a strategic and systemic point of view of their business and recognize their business has seven significant areas called the Seven Centers of Management Attention.

They are:

* Leadership: Develop your vision for your business.
* Marketing: Understand your best customers.
* Money: Establish, track and maintain predictable cash flow.
* Management: Assemble and motivate the right team.
* Lead Generation: Create awareness in your target market.
* Lead Conversion: Create a predictable sales system.
* Client Fulfillment: Deliver on your promise…every time.

The end results were that my clients gained greater awareness, control, and fulfillment in their business and lives.

When I started Full Circle Development Group I became a strategic partner with Profiles International, an 18 year old, $120 million business development company with over 40,000 clients around the world. Profiles International assessments provide employers with information used for hiring, promoting, succession planning, 360 degree feedback programs, management development, training, motivating, improving customer service, and other employment issues.

I am passionate about helping you reach your goals I look forward to speaking with you!

Are you a Lamp or a Lantern?

With all the perceived freedoms we have, I feel our greatest freedom . . . and the one people seem to give up the most is our freedom of choice.
-
I know pessimist, glass half empty people, and random pointless hecklers will disagree and argue with me, but regardless of our environments or situations we find ourselves in we have the ability to choose how we will internally and externally react at that time. We can get mad and stressed or we can remain calm. We can make assumptions or we can ask… Continue

Generation Why?

Two weeks ago I did a lunch presentation for our local chamber on Junior Leadership and Attracting Young Workers.

Why?

At the beginning of my presentation I threw out the question:

Why is this such a big deal today?

We briefly talked about two issues:

1. Boomers retiring and leaving the workforce.
2. Personality challenges and differences between older workers and younger workers. Older workers don’t know why Gen Y does the things they do and Gen Y doesn’t understand their superiors very we… Continue

What Got You Here, Won't Get You There

Recently I read a book by Marshall Goldsmith titled - “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There!

The book is about 20 habits that can lead to great success, but in the end can prevent us from ultimate success and fulfillment. When I first read the book I believe I was just relating the information to business. After reviewing the list again, these are great principals for life.

Enjoy!

20. An Excessive need to be yourself.

18. Punishing the Messenger

3 Keys to Getting Hired!

There are a large number of people “out there” who are looking for a job!

Whether they have a job or not, millions of people are doing the same thing everyone else is doing; going on the internet, posting their resume on the job sites, and applying for jobs. If they’re lucky their resume will WOW who ever is reviewing them and they will get moved on to the next round in the process, typically a phone or face to face interview.

If you are doing things like everyone else, what are you doing to b… Continue

7 Reasons Businesses Fail

As it is extremely important to pay attention to all the great things small business owners do that lead them to success, I feel it can be equally beneficial to understand the reasons businesses fail.

I came across a piece by Patricia Schaefer on the website BusinessKnowHow.com that gives 7 reasons businesses fail.

1. You Start Your Business for the Wrong Reasons
2. Poor Management
3. Insufficient Capital
4. Location, Location, Location
5. Lack of Planning
6. Over Expansion
7. No Website
