Hi Maggie, Most 360 software is more expensive then that- at least if you want 360 software that is super easy to set up and comes with preloaded questions and is designed for 360 surveys. (see halogen, sumtotal, etc...) If you've got your own que...

Beautiful video that makes you think about all the 'moments' in your life. When you think about it, engagement is all about moments too...when someone takes that brief moment to get to know you, to do something nice for you, etc....in the end- all...

David, I agree- you can see his passion throughout. If you really love your job and what you do, the engagement is obvious to anyone you meet.

Hi Phil,
I would be glad to help you out.

First of all, the 9 items I listed (and it could be fewer, as I am still testing them - or you can check out other consulting firm's core engagement items) are used to calculate an engagement score. They are purely about perceptions (and some behavioural aspects as well). The rest of the survey contains the actionable items - they are grouped into categories such as supervision, development, leadership, resources, safety, etc.. These are the "drivers" of engagement - the work-related areas that can have a positive/negative effect on engagement.

I calculate the engagement score and then I conduct a predictive analysis calculation to determine the magnitide of the effect each "driver" area may have on engagement levels. This takes us away from the traditional "let's work on the lowest" scores and focuses us on the areas that will have the greatest impact on engagement.

BTW - I would like to find another term than "driver" but it is commonly used in the engagement filed, even though in my opinion we could use a better word.

So your survey must include the engagement items and other work-related category items.

If you wish to conduct your own survey and want to bounce some ideas off me, let me know. I am always happy to help.

I did some work with an orgnisation in the UK called Motability. They're one of the UK's leading NFPs and used to have a "charity" culture. They have managed, over the last three years, to become Europe's largest car fleet and one of its most influential buyers as well as an employer of choice and customer service kings. They embrace the NFP tag but are also very commercial. If you get a chance to look at Brand Engagement there's a long case study on Motability. If not, I can send you a related article or look on www.by2w.co.uk for free downloads.
All the best.

Aloha Phil, just thought you might like to know that you are contagious! I mentioned our conversation (about assessment tools and process) in another one at my blog about "the manager's responsibility for leadership."

PWylie -

Welcome aboard!

I'm always curious as to the specific purpose/direction of organizations that are not for profit. Usually they have the best intentions and the best people working for them.

I think it's where engagement happens most and best.

PWylie,
I always appreciate a picture that is not just taken in the office. Nice to have more people from Toronto, thanks for joining us. Is there something specifically you are looking for from this site?
