Workplace Burnout - the Dark Side of Employee Engagement?

Hi I am currently undertaking a validation study to explore the relationship between high levels of engagement, motivational alignment in current role and workplace burnout.  I think burnout is the dark side of engagement and can result from putting more effort in your work then you get from it in terms of recognition, meaning, purpose etc leaving one feeling exhausted and burning out.
