Who are you?
We build online tools to help companies measure and improve employee engagement. I am head of business development so connecting with other professionals who are passionate about EE helps me shape our strategy and technology. I'm here to contribute and learn.

Some context: Quantum Market Research is the research partner behind Best Places To Work programs in over 40 metro areas. We administer engagement surveys to over 1.5 million employees among over 4,000 companies across North America every year, giving us one of the nation's largest and freshest databases of normative benchmark data. Our mission is to make Employee Engagement accessible to all companies.

In addition to working directly with companies, we partner with consultancies and EE professionals who use our technology and normative data to support their clients. To learn more, contact me at phil.haussler@qmrinc.com.

Engagement In The News

Time Magazine recently published an article called "The Rage to Engage" about the positive impact of EE on more traditional business metrics like costs and profit.

"'People used to think HR was just a cost center and not a source of value creation,' says Alex Edmans, a finance professor at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School who has studied engagement... Edmans looked at Fortune's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For and found that those firms' stock price from 1998 to 2005 rose a… Continue

Hi! I just joined and came across your videos. They are wonderfully funny. Unfortunately more so because I recognize that style of engagement.

Phil - thanks for the feedback. We just felt that the discussions among all of us are too often from our perspective - si I cahallenged us to look at the question from the seat of an employee. Interestingly enough when we did that our list changed and we dropped some of the words taht came up on our first go round....

As for the name of the Orange Chair - well, the idea behind is that who ever occupies the orage chair has the floor - and all others must listen and develop an understanding....the chair rotates (which if you visit our website you will see as you go from page to page). It came about over a glass of wine or two with our gang and we laughed about it so much we decided to go with the idea. The reason it is orange is simply because of our corporate colours....cheers, Ken

You sold me with the picture with I assume your child. Good to get the younger generation involved in engagement. The best way to learn it also to teach so I hope you find helpful information while also adding your perspective and experience.

As a survey consultant I guess that I should like the idea of conducting monthly surveys, but I am concerned that employees may feel that they are being "over surveyed." There are options, of course. An organization might randomly assign each emplo…

This is a great read, a great story. I smiled the whole time as I read this. If this conversation is possible in your organization, then I'd say your leadership is trusted and transparent. Thanks for this story.
