Who are you?
I am an HR Manager for Octagon Marketing South Africa. South Africa is a very unique in terms of our Labour laws and we as the rest of the Global village are having the similar problem of retention. Many of our graduates seem to only stay in companies for less than 2years therefore getting your Return on Investment within this period is quite vital. Engagement is SA has also become the buzzword, what is interesting is that no organization has done a really detailed survey in what are the priorities in engaging staff in SA as due to our demographics this could differ from the rest of the world. I look forward to chatting to some of you to also benchmark best practises globally in engaging staff and also looking at benchmarking any HR initiatives that have worked in different organizations.
What is your interest or involvement in employee engagement?
As an HR Manager this has become an important aspect of my job. We are struggling with a serious skills shortage in South Africa and also keeping the employee engaged in an organisation has become increasingly challenging.
