I'm a consultant with 20+ years experience in employee communications. I'm the author of Writing and Editing the Internal Publication: Delivering Employee Communications with Impact, Integrity and Style and the host of For Your Approval, a blog devoted to employee communications. http://ronshewchuk.blogs.com/
Over the years I've been involved with several corporate engagement programs and I'm passionate about this subject.
I'm also passionate about southern-style barbecue, and I think I'm the only person who offers an all-day corporate team-building workshop based on championship barbecue.
What is your interest or involvement in employee engagement?
I develop and help implement communication strategies for organizations who are looking to improve employee engagement.
Thanks, again! One more question on a title I've stumbled on - your thoughts on Engaged Leadership, Clint Swindall? I need to stop asking questions and get to reading!
Thank you again, Ron! I've read Good to Great, and just finished two others that are engagement-related called "Influencer" and "Crucial Conversations" by Kerry Patterson. Not sure if those are on your list? I'll definitely check into your other recommendations!
Ron,
I am glad you took up my suggestion to join and I see there is lots of interaction already and Jennifer found your review. Thanks for having such a good impact right off the bat.

Thank you Ron ... I can appreciate your insights and echo the initial 'Whaaa?' after reading that passage you shared! I'm always looking for a few nuggets of best practice from the outside world, sounds like this book delivers quite a bit of that if you can get past the language. I might make the investment ... but won't plan to read cover to cover on my next flight!
Any other books you can recommend along these lines are appreciated. ?
Hi Ron,
Welcome aboard. I just went over to your blog to read your book review of CEO, Chief Engagement Officer. Very entertaining review!
And I share your love of barbecue.

Do you ever wonder how past leaders could have missed what seems so obvious in hindsight? Sadly, most leaders live in an environment that makes them vulnerable to managerial failure. The problem lies in a little-recognized reality of leadership: iso…
Dear Ray,
Your concern is well founded. Employees look forward to surveys like they do a visit to the dentist! The Horsepower Survey, however, is an employee-focused survey to measure how rewarded employees feel about their work. It consists of sev…
Mike,
I will make mention of this new group in the next newsletter. Thank you for starting this and I wish you well and all European members the best with this focus.

Thanks for sharing this information, Roy.
When I was Research Director at The Loyalty Institute, we found that the #1 driver of employee commitment was an organization's efforts to build a sense of spirit and pride. This was true in the US as well…
As a survey consultant I guess that I should like the idea of conducting monthly surveys, but I am concerned that employees may feel that they are being "over surveyed."
There are options, of course. An organization might randomly assign each emplo…
This is a great read, a great story. I smiled the whole time as I read this. If this conversation is possible in your organization, then I'd say your leadership is trusted and transparent. Thanks for this story.
I won't be wishing you "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" this December. These secular, generic salutations are popular in corporate America because they are not specific to any one religion or belief system. The business world, like America's…
Hello Paul:
"if you want to improve productivity and reduce costs, you need to
tap into human nature’s pleasure-fueled engine."
I could not agree more but if we wait until after we hire someone we have waited too long.
