Business Leaders as Spiritual Stewards

Someone once told me that you can tell what a person's truly values by how they spend their time. I spend most of my awake time at work and while I wouldn't say it's a direct one-to-one correlation, I do believe that how we chose to spend our time reflects on what's in our hearts.

Which is why I believe that Michelle, who over at Mission Minded Management, is onto something huge. She has this BIG idea that business leaders can and should be more than just managers focused on profit margins. She… Continue

Nothing boosts engagement like hiring employee's kids!

For some teens, summer provides a welcome respite from the confines of the classroom. For others, summer begins with a job search. I work with a company that has a strong tradition of investing in local neighborhoods by hiring High School students during the summer months. The practice has been a huge success in the community and has improved morale, loyalty and reduced turnover of employees.

Interviewing students is one of the things I look forward to all year. They come to the interviews in a… Continue

Andres:
The blog post on this site looks very similar to the post on your blog. This site would get a bit overloaded if all the bloggers stated to to this. That is why we have the EE RSS feed and forums. I think the blog is excellent so one way to do this is to write a short post here and link it back to your blog or start a forum and reference your blog.

'Hold to joy. Remember kindness. Live deeply. Act with courage. Seek humility' - great principles to live by - and of course by the same token to practice employee engagement by. Thank you!

Hey Andre, Thanks for connecting. I had a quick read of your Open Letter to your son and was totally absorbed by it. Its inspired me to write to my boys, as I opt out of soccer practice and biking with them for working on my Masters in the weekend, as I work late in anticipation of being away from the office next week, as I miss out on my sons first school production being away.
Note to self - plan some "spontaneous" extra one to one time with each of them this week. Thanks Andre you're a blessing.

Angela, I think recognition is always essential but we have to look at the deeper reason why. Reward and recognition confirms value. Every human being wants to know, "Does my life matter?" This is the questions we help answer when we reward and re...
