Hi Ed - Thanks for adding me as a friend. Your work looks fascinating and potentially helpful in assessing project teams. Look forward to connecting in future.
Alec
Thanks Edward for adding me as a friend. Your work looks really interesting, I must have a closer look at it and do some reading. I´ll be coming back to you with some questions, I´m sure. Pleasure to meet you!
Thanks for adding me to your "friends". I intend to look at your test of employee engagement and your writings about Abraham Maslow, both interests of mine. Welcome to the Network.

Edward, welcome. Your work looks right up my alley. I'd love to get your thoughts on some things we're working on in the Creating WE Institute (see www.creatingweinstitute.com), particularly around researching needs-based leadership as it relates to employee engagement. Your research looks extremely valuable and related to our efforts underway.
I'm a Sr Director of HR at Yahoo! and am currently in a newer role here helping to drive engagement programs for managers and employees. I 've recently developed a "Manager Toolkit" which is a set of six small modules that provides Managers quick ideas and tips to drive ongoing engagement with their employees. I have been with Yahoo for 4 years and have managed other functions as well including HR Generalist for the CFO and SVP of HR , and running Non-technical recruiting.

welcome to the "club"! I am looking forward to try your test as I am almost a bit of a "personality test" junkie, and as a manager I am always looking for good coaching tools.
As you seem to be an expert about Maslow, can I ask you a question? I have recently read that Maslow once tried to implement Douglas McGregor's Theory Y into a Californian electronics business, but found that the idea to the extreme would not work well. I would like to learn more about this experience of Maslow and his conclusions out of it. Do you know where I can find more information about this (without necessarily reading a whole book)?

Hello Edward:
Welcome to the employee engagement network. I think there is a lot of connection between Maslow and engagement. Sounds like you have your hands full with work and parenting. I look forward to your contribution and participation in the network.

Ah, the script for a boss! That is easy, but a long way from the traditional one.
First, I suggest the boss do a quick read of Douglas McGregor's "The Human Side of Enterprise" to gain an understanding of the theory behind X and Y. Then commit the…

My view on this is that where you treat employee engagement like a ‘big bang’ corporate change programme it will always carry a significant risk of turning into an ‘organisational Vietnam’. Don’t go to war in the first place!
