What a lovely welcome thanks so much. Glad you like the blog, I hope to bring some of the same tone to your fascinating group. I really like the engagement in a sentence idea, I will share that with other groups and see what contrasts arise. Looking forward to learning from and contributing to this network.
Wow, Thank you very much. Actually I have many questions. Haha. I think joining this group of people and a tool like this will prove to be one of the better decisions I have made in my career. Its very exciting. So.. you worked with people from my neck of the woods hey? They would probably know me from my previous career as Morning Man of a radio station in this area for the last 10 years. I made the Career change about a year ago. If you work with them in the future, chances are I have either worked with them through community initiatives or other professional engagements. Say Hi for me. Small world hey?
You have put together a great 'community' and like Gregg just said I am looking forward to contributing. Thanks again!
I'm enjoying browsing through the network David, and thought it would add value to invite some of my other peers. We'll all make this a richer place to be.
I hope to start contributing some time soon.
I recall you leaving a welcome note and then this. To me you're living the kind of behaviours a leader needs to practice in order to raise levels of engagement. Cheers!
I think the 'connection framework' makes a lot of sense, David. I've been doing a bit of (re)searching here and there (BTW, your name seems to pop up in many places online). It seems that there is a great interest in defining manager tools for improving engagement. There doesn't seem to be, however, a definitive body of work re: engagement. I suspect the subject matter is so specific to each organization (depending on values), if not each manager. It seems that having a general framework (e.g., one you're mentioning) - and augmenting it with a smorgasboard of specific tools for organizations to choose, would be a good way of approaching the subject. Thank you for ideas, David. Best, Jitka
Thanks David for your welcome. Employee engagement is the "Secret Sauce" to success in my opinion. I believe Gen Y'ers have a good deal to do with that. Employees want to do a good job and it is my life's work to help leaders and employees make that connection. I look forward to posting and great reading. Take care. Judy
Thank you for the welcome, David. I'm afraid that there's plenty of self-interest in joining the group: I'm to give a talk on equipping managers to engage their staff, and am looking for fresh perspectives on the wide subject. To date, my overwhelming notion is: be authentic! - in leadership, communication and in sharing your blind spots. And as I know there's a whole lot more, I'd like to see what others think. This seems to be an excellent forum! Thank you!
Best, Jitka
P.S. I see you're from Gimli.... Any chance you know Elise Roaf (communications expert - and much more)?
Hi David, thank you very much for the kind words...engagement is my way of life. So I am honored and very excited to be part of this social network. It may not be new to you but just in case you or anybody else would like to check it out its called www.TED.com it is truly amazing. I will not say anything more as I would love it if you checked it out. I am sure you will find it of great use. take care and continue to engage the disengaged! BATMAN out!
David,
While the perception of engagement is that it is something that you have to do to other people, the mould remains unbroken.

Thanks for the welcome, David. I am interested in better understanding the role of employee engagement to improve my leadership skills and understand how it can be applied to specific functional areas/teams, particularly in the areas of product development. Looking forward to learning and contributing!
Thanks for the welcome email David. I am looking forward to contributing to the discussions. My reason for joining is to hone my skills in writing and delivering metaphors for use in my NLP coaching and training business.(www.holisticdirections.com) As well, I am seeking partners in Winnipeg to share a training facility with (or rent from). Would welcome any words of wisdom on either this or anything else pertaining to public speaking and training. Jacquie
Thanks for your welcome David. I am building an online training comoany - The Corporate Toolbox (www.thecorporatetoolbox) and am always on the look out for business authors/trainers. This forum seems to be ideal to let people know what we do and how we can help them get their knowledge out to a wider audience via the web. Just wondered if it was worth us chatting about linking our sites? And that may not be appropriate I don't know. Love to hear your thoughts - ann
Hello David... thanks for the welcome note! I am very interested in engagement and have for many years focused my work to make a real difference. My particular interest in in measurement of engagement... and I know of the various models other there, but based on how I have seen organizations apply the big name models, I think there is much work to be done.
So... I look forward to learning and contributing to the discussions here.
:)
I will David! I am very excited to be a part of your movement and grateful I crossed paths with you.
The full title of my new book is Stop Fixing, Start Leading--Engaging America's Workforce. This being said, it appears you have started a grass roots movement for creating engagement in the workplace.
I have attempted to upload the book cover and it keeps converting to HTML language. Thoughts on how I can upload the image?
Maybe the book can help elevate the awareness in businesses around the world. I will keep you up to date on the release date of the book.
Thanks for the welcome. I found this site through you from Twitter. I think it will be a great place to learn and share. If I can assist you, please just ask.
Interesting question. I'm drawn to less is more, and even that may be too much :) My experience has shown me that the more fearful the organisation is, the more often it seeks to measure as a means to try and stave off the fear. It then often ends u…
I would contend never is too soon.
If you understand what engagement is and how to achieve it, then you know what an engaged employee sounds like and acts like as compared to one who is somewhat engaged or disengaged. Surveys turn people off while…
The real challenge to engage employees is to gain trust by giving them autonomy to shape their own jobs to their own wishes, interests and strengths but always aligned with an open and transparant organisational vision and strategy.
The most important priority for leaders is to cultivate, appreciate, and leverage the vast untapped potential of every employee in their organizations.
If you focus on engagement, productivity will follow. If you focus on productivity, you may not get it.
To begin engagement, sit down with each employee for 40-60 minutes, privately, quietly, and confidentially, and get to know them better -- thei…

That would be great. I'm away on vacation next week and quite busy the week after. March 30 or 31 would work for me. Regards, Jacquie
