Opportunity for In-Person Networking & Mind Sharing
To: Individuals interested and passionate about Employee Engagement, and local to downtown Chicago, IL area
I sincerely appreciate the information and dialogue found on David Zinger's EE Site! I've spoken with some of the individuals and we have a strong interest in coming together in-person to network, share expertise, and create topic-focused interactive exchanges.
Towards that goal, listed below are details for bringing us together:
Date: Friday, September 25, 10am/CT to Noon/CT
Location: Downtown Chicago Loop location TBD (based upon # responses)
Potential Topic: Given the far-reaching changes across the economy and it's cascading impact to business and people -> Impacts/Opportunities in the EE arena
Cost: None
To obtain an estimate for the number of people, please forward the following by Friday, September 4:
1) Generally, are you interested in connecting in-person? What are some of the desires you would like to achieve from the in-person connection? What value can it bring for you? What ideas/topics are of interest?
2) Can you be there on September 25th at 10am/CT?
I hope you feel as excited as myself for this opportunity! Feel free to pass this along to anyone that would find this valuable.

Hello Melina,
I'm sure you would agree that a big factor in "keeping that awesome talent" is the Manager. Why not join the Manager Tools group and participate in the discussions there?

Melina,
I enjoyed the quick look I had of your blog. Good question about twitter. I am not sure I am convinced about how this adds value but I have not spent enough time to fully and effectively assess it. Welcome to the network and I look forward to your Chicago perspective.

Effective Employee Engagement is about developing your staff to care about the future of your organisation. Only you as their manager can demonstrate the readiness of your organisation to deliver it.
Many organizations have seen their voluntary turnover numbers greatly decline during the past 18months (our recessionary window). However, there are two great articles that are indicating that the turnover wave is coming. Those organizations with di…

Ah, the script for a boss! That is easy, but a long way from the traditional one.
First, I suggest the boss do a quick read of Douglas McGregor's "The Human Side of Enterprise" to gain an understanding of the theory behind X and Y. Then commit the…

Great stuff. Particularly like the piece about attacking "internal friction".
I still think the macro issues, namely around what kind of relationships does the organisation wish to have with specific groups/classes of employees need to be c…

My view on this is that where you treat employee engagement like a ‘big bang’ corporate change programme it will always carry a significant risk of turning into an ‘organisational Vietnam’. Don’t go to war in the first place!
Do it by taking lots a…
