i found dan's talk - or rather "case presentation" - rather ironical and intriguing..his revelation of what incentivising does in actual fact was thought provoking...in my little experience, i hv found participative engagement reaps in better teamwork, increases motivation than incentivising...though we did not follow this based on any factual finding by scientists, but purely as a matter of noticing the ground reality of what kept working better, but to be honest the "hey lets incentivise for better results" kept tempting us often...and now dan's presentation appears pretty ironical and without doubt increases our belief of an alternate engagement strategy than a conventional belief. it is intriguing becoz i hv come across several organisations actually indicating a positive benefit of incentivising and then - no one's complained !! so, yes, it can be a good starter to rethink strategies of human management ! thanks for posting the video !!! cheers...

For Daniel Pink fans I recently discovered he did a two-part interview series with Oprah Winfrey, not for her tv show but for her 'Soul Series' program on satellite radio. Using the following link you can either listen or watch the interviews - http://www.oprah.com/article/spirit/inspiration/20080929_oaf_oss_dpink . Good stuff

Absolutely LOVED it! Huge fan of Dan Pink! When will our organizations awaken from their archaic comas?!

Oh my. There is a lot of food for thought there. Especially since an end of year performance bonus is a big part of our system.

This is a great read, a great story. I smiled the whole time as I read this. If this conversation is possible in your organization, then I'd say your leadership is trusted and transparent. Thanks for this story.
